The Kennewick Irrigation District is lifting water restrictions starting Sunday and continuing through Oct. 11, the last day water will be delivered this season.

District members have been limited to watering each zone three times a week for 20 minutes.

Although people may water at will, the district is strongly encouraging the continued use of conservation measures to best use the limited water available. Watering deeply less often helps encourage a deep root system, which will better prepare lawns for the next irrigation system.

Restrictions were lifted after cooler temperatures and rainfall led to improved and more predictable Yakima River levels.
