POW/MIA ceremony scheduled Sept. 18 in Walla Walla

The public is invited to attend the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center’s annual POW/MIA ceremony, which honors former prisoners of war and those missing in action.

The ceremony is 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at the center, 77 Wainwright Dr. in Walla Walla.

The local Civil Air Patrol Honor Guard — Twin W Composite Squadron — will present the colors during a flag-raising ceremony. Keynote speakers will be Alfie Alvarado-Ramos, director of the state Department of Veterans Affairs, and Linda Hileman Litten. Students from Rogers Elementary School will perform several musical selections.

A reception will follow with a light lunch.
