Walla Walla fire near Wallula burns 3,000 acres
Emergency management officials in Walla Walla say a wildfire that burned at least 3,000 acres has been put out.
The fire caused a Level 2 evacuation in the Wallula and Port Kelly areas, and closed Highway 730 between the Wallula Junction and Oregon border.
An evacuation center was set up Sunday afternoon at Columbia Burbank Middle School.
State assistance was authorized to help fight the blaze, which started early Sunday morning.
There were about 30 fire trucks and 75 firefighters that helped with the fire.
