Crash damages signal at Columbia Center Blvd., Canal Drive

A vehicle crashed into the traffic signal controller at Columbia Center Boulevard and Canal Drive, knocking out power to the traffic lights at one of the most busy intersections in Kennewick.

Drivers are asked to avoid the intersection at the main entrance to Columbia Center mall while crews work to fix the problem. Repairs could take two days.

The intersection is down to one lane in each direction and controlled by stop signs.

Expect delays at the intersections, said a Kennewick news release.

All other routes to the mall are open, including Quinault Avenue, Gage Boulevard or the Rio Grande signal, said the release.

The city will send out an update when repairs are done.
