Some outdoor facilities in Kennewick will be temporarily closed Sept. 12 as hundreds of volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints perform community service projects.
The partnership with the church began in 2010 and has grown each year.
Resealing at Columbia Park’s Playground of Dreams and repainting at the Columbia River Regional Youth Skate & Bike Park will require them to be closed while work is done. Volunteers are scheduled to start about 8 a.m.
Volunteers also will be cleaning up the Columbia Park river shore and Audubon Trail, clearing trails and brush in Zintel Canyon, and improving landscaping and repainting bathrooms in several other city parks.
