Kid’s Duck Day planned at McNary refuge
Children can build nest boxes for wood ducks and learn how to band a duck at Kid’s Duck Day on Sept. 12 at the McNary National Wildlife Refuge.
Duck banding, which is dependent on trapping wild ducks, will begin at 9 a.m. and last about 30 minutes. Other activities from 9 a.m. to noon will cover pond life identification, taxidermy and gun safety.
The event is sponsored by the Richland Rod & Gun Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Friends of the Mid-Columbia River National Wildlife Refuges.
The McNary refuge is at 64 Maple St. in Burbank.
