Richland High senior to perform at the Grand Ole Opry

Kristina Gaumnitz, a Richland High School senior, has been selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education All-National Honor Ensembles, Oct. 25-28 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.

The ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the country and include concert band, jazz, mixed choir and symphony orchestra.

Gaumnitz will perform with the mixed choir under the direction of Ann Howard Jones, professor of music and director of choral activities at Boston University.

Gaumnitz sings alto voice with the Richland High chamber choir under the direction of Greg Fryhling. “Kristina works incredibly hard, and is a real leader in the RHS choral department,” s “We’re excited that she has earned this huge honor.”

Kristina has performed in a number of local musicals with the Academy of Children’s Theatre. In addition, she performed this past summer in the Mid-Columbia Musical Theatre’s production of The Music Man.
