Opening of new food truck delayed

Sorry food truck fans, looks like you’ll have to wait until next year to see the newest offering from Kindra’s Wok ‘N Roll.

Owner Kai Phengsavanh said the rollout of the new Kindra Sweet Treats has been pushed back. She said she’s looking to add to the menu and address other details before putting the new truck on the street.

The new truck was announced earlier this summer and originally scheduled to begin serving customers by the end of this month. Bubble tea, a tea-based drink from Taiwan, along with pastries and sweets were to be among the menu items.

The original food truck, focused on Asian fusion items, is still going strong, though.

It is among the trucks serving at Food Truck Fridays in downtown Pasco when not at its usual base at 451 N. Ninth St. in the Research District of north Richland. Updates about the menu, hours and locations are available on the company’s Facebook page.

Amazingly fresh

A new health-oriented smoothie and snack shop in West Richland is the latest offering from the owners of Beaver Bark.

Amazingly Fresh, housed in a suite in the shopping center at 4001 Kennedy Road, opened in March and manager Alicia Horton said the business has seen good traffic as people discover the shop.

Amazingly Fresh’s options include coffee and smoothies, juices along with food items such as wraps, energy bars made in-house and chia pudding.

Prices range from $2.99 for an energy bar to $12.99 for a 24-ounce juice. The focus is on offering the best quality ingredients that will provide a filling meal or refreshment for customers, Horton said.

“We do our own almond milk. We do our own wheatgrass juice, and I think we’re the only shop locally that does,” Horton said.

The shop doesn’t yet have a website, but Horton said they’ve built their customer base largely through their Instagram at amazinglyfreshjuicebar and other social media. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and closed Sundays.

Fresh Hop Ale Festival

It’s not a restaurant, not in the Tri-Cities and is about a month off, but if you’re a beer lover and don’t mind a little drive, the Fresh Hop Ale Festival is hitting Yakima on Oct. 3-4.

More than 40 home breweries are expected to enter about 100 beers in the festival’s contest, with awards going to best in show as well as the top IPA, double IPA and pale ale.

But there will also be wine, cider, more than a dozen food vendors and live music.

Baja Fresh

The Tri-Cities’ first Baja Fresh Mexican Grill has opened next to Hop Jack’s in the Southridge area of Kennewick.

Their focus is flame-grilled meats on special grilled tortillas with fresh, not prepackaged, ingredients. They also offer salads and a 500-calorie menu.

You can dine in, take out or order online, and they also offer catering.

The address is 4898 W. Hildebrand Blvd. Phone: 509-586-1433.
