Aerial spraying for mosquitoes planned Aug. 30 for Benton County towns
Aerial spraying for mosquitoes will be done over Benton County communities during the evening of Aug. 30 if the weather is calm.
The risk of transmission of West Nile virus in the area is extremely high, according to the Benton County Mosquito Control District, which has scheduled the spraying.
Aerial spraying is expected to start as early as 7:40 p.m. and continue for up to four hours.
It will include parts of Kennewick on both sides of Highway 395, south Richland, West Richland, Prosser and Grandview. Go to www.mosquitocontrol.org and click on the fogging schedule for a map of areas planned to be sprayed.
This summer, West Nile has been confirmed in 13 Benton County residents and three horses. An elderly man died after being infected with the virus.
