Dreamland Express to begin running in park

The J&S Dreamland Express begins operation this weekend in Kennewick's Columbia Park. It will run every weekend through September.

The train will operate from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It leaves every 20 minutes from the Family Fishing Pond for a tranquil ride through Columbia Park.

Clover Island Inn of Kennewick will pay for all children's ride this Saturday only. Big Top the Clown will be performing during train operation hours Saturday and Sunday where the train is loaded.

Cost is 50 cents for children and $1 for adults. The train is owned and operated by the Kiwanis Club of the Horse Heaven Hills. All proceeds go toward community programs and college scholarships.

The train is named in honor of Washington State Patrol Trooper James Saunders, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1999 in Pasco.
