2 Tri-Cities area doctors no longer licensed to practice medicine
Two Tri-Cities area doctors no longer have current licenses to practice medicine, according to the Washington Medical Commission.
The license of Dr. Sophie Gomez, 72, was indefinitely suspended after she failed to respond to letters of cooperation and a referral for evaluation to the Washington Physicians Health Program, according to state Department of Health documents.
The Washington Medical Commission received a complaint in December 2024 regarding patient care she provided.
It sent letters of cooperation to her in March and May 2025, followed by a referral for a medical evaluation, with no response, according to the commission.
In a second case, Dr. Jon Marcus Raym Mundall, 78, who practiced most recently in Connell and Cheney, Wash., has voluntarily surrendered his license to practice medicine in Washington state, according to an agreed order.
The Washington Medical Commission was investigating allegations that he misdiagnosed thyroid disease and prescribed higher than indicated doses of thyroid medications.
Overprescribing thyroid hormones could lead to muscle wasting, bone density loss, stroke or atrial fibrillation, according to the commission.
The commission previously restricted Mundall from diagnosing or treating thyroid disorders, pending further proceedings of the commission. It recently accepted his decision to surrender his medical license and entered into an agreed order.
