Fatal stabbing victim dropped off at Pasco hospital is ID’d
A 39-year-old man has been identified as the victim of the fatal stabbing in Pasco on Monday evening.
He’d been stabbed several times but an autopsy this week found Cesar Diaz-Avila died from a stab to his chest, Coroner Curtis McGary told the Tri-City Herald.
Diaz-Avila was apparently involved in a confrontation in an alley between 12th and 14th Avenues south of Sylvester Street about 6:20 p.m. Monday, according to police, dispatch reports and witnesses.
The downtown Pasco neighborhood is a mix of single-family homes and apartments. Diaz-Avila’s recent address was listed in that neighborhood.
After he was wounded, Diaz-Avila was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in a pickup truck and dropped off. He died a short time later.
While detectives say they have identified everyone involved in the incident, no one had been arrested or charged as of Thursday afternoon.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Pasco Police Department at 509-545-5421.
