CBC bell ringing ceremony to honor MLK Jr.’s legacy
Columbia Basin College holds it annual bell ringing ceremony to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King. Jr. on Monday, Jan. 19.
The program will introduce the recipient of the 2026 MLK Jr. Spirit Award, given to a local resident who exemplifies King’s vision and mission to support racial equality and justice.
The bell ringing ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m., Monday, at the MLK Jr. statue outside the T Building.
T Building is on the north side of the Pasco campus, 2600 N. 20th Ave., off Argent Road.
Finalists for the MLK Jr. Art Show will be announced as well.
Last year’s winner of the prestigious Spirit Award was Lynn Carlson, CEO of the Pasco-based consultation firm Gemini Corps., which helps businesses and nonprofits navigate change.
Joseph Thornton, founder of the Big Bro Joe Foundation, a youth mentorship nonprofit that connects youths with positive male role models, said the 2024 winner.
