A Tri-City political group plans to gather Saturday morning to protest federal immigration efforts in the wake of a Minnesota woman’s death this week.

The “ICE Out For Good” weekend of action is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. along Columbia Center Boulevard in Kennewick, near Columbia Center mall. It is being organized by Indivisible Tri-Cities, the local chapter of a larger left-leaning organization.

“Indivisible Tri-Cities is committed to lawful, non-violent protest and de-escalation. This demonstration is intended to be peaceful, respectful, and community centered,” said a Friday news release.

Demonstration and protests have erupted in the days since an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer allegedly shot and killed a Minneapolis woman in her car during an enforcement operation.

Federal agents also shot and injured two people Thursday with alleged gang connections in Portland. The two shootings do not appear connected, and the Trump administration has defended the officers’ use of force in both instances.
