Sections of the Richland Riverfront Pathway Trail will be closed for repairs beginning Jan. 5 near the Courtyard Richland Columbia Point Hotel and Columbia Point Marina.
The city of Richland is replacing a basalt retaining wall after it was undermined by erosion. A portion of the trail has been fenced off for a few years due to the instability of the columns.

During the eight-week project, pedestrians, cyclists and others will be detoured around the site via Bradley Boulevard, Columbia Point Drive and the Columbia Point Marina parking lot.

The contractor will demolish the old retaining wall and build a new system with drains, backfill, handrails and a concrete block wall.
The pathway will be temporarily paved with cold-mix asphalt because of the winter conditions.
