Powerball ticket sold in Eastern Washington wins $50K. Here’s where it was bought
One Eastern Washington resident is $50,000 richer thanks to a winning Powerball ticket, according to lottery officials.
The lucky ticket missed the jackpot but still won big in the drawing on Saturday, Dec. 6, a spokesperson for Washington’s Lottery told McClatchy Media via email.
The winning ticket matched four white balls and the red Powerball, according to the national Powerball website.
Another winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold on the west side of the state, The Bellingham Herald previously repoted.
Where were winning Powerball tickets sold?
One lucky ticket was purchased at the Safeway grocery store at 121 West Walnut Street in Newport, according to the Washington’s Lottery spokesperson.
That’s about an hour-long drive from Spokane.

According to Washington’s Lottery, the odds of this win are one in 913,000, while the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292 million.
What were the winning Powerball numbers?
The winning numbers for Saturday’s Powerball drawing were 13, 14, 26, 28 and 44, with a Powerball number of 7.
Since no one took home the $820 million jackpot, the biggest possible payout keeps rising.
The grand prize is now $875 million, with a cash value of $403.6 million.
How does Washington’s Lottery Powerball work?
Washington’s Lottery holds Powerball drawings three times a week, followed by Double Play drawings a half-hour later.
Participants can pay an extra dollar when purchasing a Powerball ticket to use the same numbers again during the Double Play drawing for an extra chance to win.
For another extra dollar, winnings can be multiplied by up to 10 through the Power Play.
To participate in the Powerball, players pick five numbers between 1 and 69, and one Powerball number between 1 and 26.
Drawings are at 7:59 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
While matching all six drawn balls has the biggest payout, there are nine ball combinations that can bring home the bucks, according to the lottery:
- Five white balls and the Powerball: Jackpot
- Five white balls: $1 million
- Four white balls and the Powerball: $50,000
- Four white balls: $100
- Three while balls and the Powerball: $100
- Three white balls: $7
- Two white balls and the Powerball: $7
- One white ball and the Powerball: $4
- Only the Powerball: $4
