An 83-year-old woman was rescued after four days of being stuck on her bathroom floor.

The woman has lived alone in a house along Red Mountain Road between West Richland and Benton City since her husband died a year ago, Benton County Sheriff Lt. Mike Clark told the Tri-City Herald. About four days ago, she fell in the bathroom and wasn’t able to get to a phone.

Her son, who regularly visits, hadn’t heard from her, so he decided to stop by on Thursday, Clark said. When he knocked on the door, he could hear her yelling for help and called 911.

Benton County deputies and Benton County Fire District 4 firefighters arrived at the home. A deputy found an unlocked window, shimmied through and unlocked the door.

Medical staff was about to rescue the woman and took her to a hospital.
