Labor dispute halts road construction project in south Richland
Richland has opened a stretch of Dallas Road to motorists after a labor dispute halted construction of roundabouts at Ava Way and Trowbridge Boulevard.
The city announced that all work is paused for an indefinite period of time and both intersections are open.
Labor negotiations are ongoing, it said.
The project is funded by the developer of the Badger Mountain South area and is meant to improve capacity and safety of the intersection as the area grows.
Construction began in late 2024 before shutting down for the winter last November. It resumed in April and was supposed to wrap up next spring.
Work includes roundabout construction, installation of sidewalks, widening Dallas between the two roundabouts and installing city utilities and new street signs.
