New Costco is open in Tri-Cities — and it’s hiring. Check out available jobs

After years of planning, rumors and anticipation, Costco Wholesale just opened its second location in the Tri-Cities area.

The new membership-only warehouse store opened its doors for the first time at Friday, Aug. 8.

Costco is hiring for a variety of positions ranging from cashiers and stockers to forklift operators and health care specialists.

Here’s what to know — and how to apply for jobs:

Where is new Costco location in Tri-Cities?

Costco’s newest location in the Tri-Cities is at 3125 Queensgate Drive in Richland.

The store is just behind the Regency Park apartment complex, which separates Costco from the Vintner Square shopping center.

The newly built Costco store spans more than 182,000 square feet and can safely accommodate nearly 2,200 people at maximum occupancy.

Another Costco Tri-Cities was the Kennewick location at 8505 West Gage Blvd. in Kennewick.

Is the new Costco in Richland hiring?

The Richland city officials said Costco was planning to create 300 new jobs.

As opening day approaches, Costco had more than two dozen jobs available at its new Richland location.

According to the Costco jobs site, there were a total of 34 positions available at the store as of Monday, Aug. 4, not including internships, limited-time positions for students or off-site opportunities.

From pharmacy roles to sales positions, there’s a range of opportunities for job seekers. The jobs site also has an “any position” option for the Richland location that allows potential employees to submit their resumes and relevant information to be considered for any available position they may be qualified for.

What jobs are available at Costco store opening in Tri-Cities?

Available positions at Costco vary in terns of pay, experience, department and responsibilities.

Each job offers comprehensive benefits, including paid time off, health benefits, dependent care assistance plans, retirement plans contributions and stock purchase plans for eligible employees.

These were some of the available positions listed on Costco’s jobs website as of Monday, Aug. 4:

Stocker

  • Pay: $20 to $30.20 an hour

This role includes stocking and straightening items for sale, clearing and cleaning the aisles and assisting customers.

Member service assistant

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 an hour

The member service assistant greets customers, verifies Costco membership cards, keeps entry counts and checks receipts when customers leave. You’ll also perform safety and security checks and must provide a high level of customer service.

Inventory auditor

  • Pay: $20 to $30.20 an hour

The inventory auditor maintains an accurate count of items for sale and receives merchandise, in addition to identifying, investigating and correcting any discrepancies in the inventory.

Cashier

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 an hour

The cashier processes orders and collects payment with a high level of customer service. When necessary, duties include cleanup, setup and closing duties.

Service deli clerk

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 an hour

The service deli clerk prepares, packages and labels deli food items including pre-made meals, party trays, take-and-bake pizzas, rotisserie chickens, sushi and sliced meats and cheeses.

Non-licensed optician

  • Pay: $20 to $30.20 an hour

The optician assists customers choosing and ordering glasses; process orders, fits glasses and dispenses glasses and contacts under the supervision of a licensed optician.

The position also requires a high level of customer service and an ability to stock and clean the department.

Licensed opticians have slightly different responsibilities, with a guaranteed pay rate of $30.90 per hour plus a premium of an additional $6 per hour.

Tire installer

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 an hour

The tire installer responsible for balancing, installing, repairing and rotating tires, as well as stocking tire products.

Bakery wrapper/sanitation

  • Pay: $20 to $30.20 an hour

The bakery wrapper is charge of garnishing, weighing, wrapping and labeling bakery products.

Other duties include cleaning and sanitizing the department and relevant equipment, as well as re-stocking supplies and ingredients.

Maintenance clerk

  • Pay: $20 to $30.20 an hour

The maintenance clerk builds and repairs structures, in addition to providing routine maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment and providing general maintenance of the warehouse.

Additionally, the maintenance clerk provides repairs for plumbing and electrical systems under 24 volts.

Licensed senior hearing aid specialist

  • Pay: $42.07 to $46.39 per hour

Duties for this management role includes overseeing the Hearing Center’s employees and operations, as well as hearing aid dispenser duties with a high level of customer service.

Loss prevention clerk

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 hourly

The loss prevention clerk protects company assets from theft in addition to observing and reporting potential safety and security hazards.

Pharmacy manager

  • Pay: $178,857 to $182,434 a year

As the pharmacist in charge, the pharmacy manager oversees and directs pharmacy operations; monitors department performance and participates in pharmacist duties.

Forklift driver

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 per hour, plus $1 per hour when operating a forklift

The forklift driver operates an electric stand-up forklift to move pallets throughout the warehouse, in addition to hand-stacking products onto pallets.

Payroll clerk

  • Pay: $21 to $31.90 per hour

The payroll clerk’s duties include assisting employees and managers with payroll information; updating, reviewing and keying entries into the payroll system, and maintaining personnel files and Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports.

The payroll clerk also tracks and posts warehouse expenses.
