National Night Out: Food, drawings and games around Tri-Cities Aug. 5
More than 40 years ago, Kennewick was one of the first cities to adopt National Night Out, a campaign that’s now part of thousands of cities across the U.S., its territories and military bases worldwide.
The goal is for community members to meet police officers in their city, help build strong police-community partnerships, and improve neighborhood safety and crime prevention.
This week, police departments across the Tri-Cities are hosting free, family-friendly events on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
The night is known for vehicle displays, when children can experience sitting inside police cars.
