The driver of a Kennewick School District bus hit by a pickup on Wednesday was cited for failing to yield to the truck, said the school district.

The bus driver is on paid administrative leave pending further investigation by Kennewick police and the district.

The bus was turning west from West 10th Avenue onto West Clearwater Avenue when it was hit by the eastbound truck, said a Facebook post by the Kennewick Police Department.

Medics with the fire department evaluated the students, who reported some minor scratches and bruises, and school district officials notified their parents.

The pickup truck driver was injured and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where they were listed in stable condition, said police.

The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m.
