Pasco Farmers Market is 1st to open this season. What you’ll find Saturday
It’s a fresh season for farmers markets in the Tri-Cities.
The Pasco Farmers Market kicks off May 10. This year, Pasco is launching an interactive map on the city’s website and Pasco Farmers Market Facebook page.
During the event, the online map will show updated vendor information and their locations in the market pavilion at Peanuts Park in downtown Pasco.
This Saturday’s market will feature products such as organic produce, fresh flowers and bread from bakeries new to the Pasco market.
Schreiber Farms is a staple at various markets in the area.
Customers can expect to find organic asparagus, herbs, micro greens and lettuce mix at the booth this weekend. The produce is grown in greenhouses and fields in Eltopia and Basin City.
Farmers market coordinator Damien Davis told the Tri-City Herald that Schreiber Farms also will be selling new products exclusive to the Pasco market this year.
There will be live music during the markets, with a themed events and activities on the second weekend of each month.
Family activities are also back.
They include K.E.RN.E.L Kid Cash, a science and nutrition program sponsored by the Tri-Cities Sunrise Rotary Club. Children who participate will earn $2 to spend at the market.
Kids Day is June 14, with opportunities for children to rent their own booths to sell products.
Some Pasco vendors accept SNAP cards for payment.
Community members can pick up lunch from vendors at the Pasco Specialty Kitchen. Tri-Cities Afghan Food and Bulldog Bistro are open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
