Is Dolly Parton coming to the Tri-Cities? What we found out about this post
Mysterious social media posts suggest a country music legend and renowned philanthropist is making an appearance at a Tri-Cities bookstore.
Richland’s Adventures Underground shared posts on Facebook and Instagram on Saturday showing a picture that shows Dolly Parton’s eyes and the top of her head with the number “1” over her head.
The post just says “She’s coming! Stay tuned for more!”
With no other details, people started speculating about what the post could mean.
Many were hoping the post indicated a visit from the 75-year-old singer-songwriter, calling her a hero to them or a family member.
“If this teaser is true, the line around the Uptown (Shopping Center) will be even bigger than the one for Star Wars back in ‘77,” one comment said.
Other comments are doubting that Parton would visit the Tri-Cities in person.
And that is the case.
Store workers explained it is a “Where’s Dolly?” promotion at the Uptown where cardboard cutouts of the star will be placed in January in participating stores in the shopping area along George Washington Way. Shoppers will be able to win prizes.
And donations can be made to Parton’s literacy charity, Imagination Library.
Her book-gifting program sends more than 2 million books every month to children around the world. The library mails one free, age-appropriate book to each registered child from birth until their 5th birthday.
Imagination Library of Washington hosted an event with Parton in 2023, bringing more than 800 supporters to the Pantages Theater in Tacoma.
The event came a year after Washington became the 11th state to partner with the Imagination Library to create a statewide program, the Imagination Library of Washington said on its website.
The United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties manages the program in the Tri-Cities.
Parton’s career has spanned more than 60 years. She has sold more than 100 million records, had 44 career Top 10 country albums and 11 Grammy Awards.
In September, she released a cookbook with her sister Rachel Parton George and released a new album last year. While she has concert dates scheduled in 2025, none are for Washington state.
