Chance of snow, fog could dampen your plans for New Year’s Day. Updated forecast
The Tri-Cities could usher in 2025 with a touch of snowfall on New Year’s Day, but forecasts say it will be soggy for the most part.
The National Weather Service in Pendleton is forecasting “a chance of rain” for Pasco before 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. Between 1 and 4 a.m. there’ll be some rain and snow, then a “slight chance” of snow after 4 a.m.
Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
There will be a “slight chance of snow” and patchy fog before 7 a.m. Wednesday, New Year’s Day, then a chance of rain and snow after 10 a.m.
It will be partly sunny with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Weather through Monday, Jan. 6, will remain mostly cloudy with intermittent precipitation. Lows will be in the mid-30s and highs will be in the 40s.
In the Cascade Mountains on Washington, NWS is forecasting “high chances” of mountain snow on New Year’s Eve. The Oregon Cascades could see 3-8 inches between 4 p.m. New Year’s Eve and 4 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Light rainfall is expected in lower elevations.
Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass will likely see new snow accumulation of 3-5 inches Tuesday night, then 2-4 inches Wednesday.
Interstate 84 between Pendleton and La Grande could see about 1-2 inches of new snow both Tuesday and Wednesday.
