Ultra-high-speed fiber-optic internet coming to thousands more in Tri-Cities
Construction is underway in Pasco on a new, ultra-high-speed fiber-optic network being installed by Washington-based internet company Ziply Fiber.
Ziply internet is already available in parts of Kennewick and Richland. Other areas across the Tri-Cities also will get the service.
The launch means that Pasco residents now have access to the fastest household internet speeds in the nation, say Ziply officials. They report that household data use across the U.S. is expected to double every year.
The company recently announced that 2,500 addresses already are live in Pasco.
The network eventually will serve more than 4,500 homes and businesses across the city.
Ziply officials said that the cost to residential customers who switch to fiber internet will start at $10 a month.

Ziply said in a news release it is investing hundreds of millions to bring an advanced, completely fiber network to both suburban and rural communities in the Northwest that have been underserved with internet access.
The company’s primary offerings are fiber internet and phone for residential customers, business fiber internet and Ziply Voice services for small businesses, and a variety of internet, networking and voice services for customers. It also serves digital subscriber line internet customers and TV customers in Washington and Oregon.
Residential customers in all fiber markets can access speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 50 Gigs. All Ziply Fiber plans have no contracts or data caps, said the company.
Residents and business owners can check for fiber availability at Ziplyfiber.com and sign up to be alerted when service is available at their location.
