A Walla Walla woman is raising money for her sister after a dramatic crash on a rural highway left her hurt.

Jessika Watson was on her way to work about 5:50 a.m. on Thursday on Highway 124 outside of Walla Walla when she hit a deer, Trooper Chris Thorson told the Tri-City Herald.

She called police to report the collision and was waiting for help when another car slammed into her car going 65 mph, crushing her car and flipping it.

Washington State Patrol investigators said Watson wasn’t able to pull completely off the roadway, though her family believes she did.

Her friends posted on social media that she was flown to an area hospital but has since been released and is recovering at home.

“She is a dedicated mother, hardworking recently graduated student and loyal employee,” Janene Beeman said in a GoFundMe for Watson.

Beeman said she’s asking for donations to allow Watson’s husband to take time off work to be by her side and help them financially while she recovers.

“This was very unexpected and tragic to all involved,” Beeman said.

The second driver is not facing charges, said Thorson.
