1,400+ homes and businesses lose power in Tri-Cities on Friday morning

About 1,425 Benton PUD customers in Kennewick lost power at 10:45 a.m. Friday, with power restored at 12:30 p.m.

The outage was in the area of 27th Avenue and Ely Street in south Kennewick. Most of the outages were east of Highway 395.

Among businesses that lost power was Yokes Fresh Market, according to people posting on social media. Some traffic lights were out in the area.

The Benton PUD said there was a technical issue inside a substation. They continued to evaluate what happened Friday afternoon.
