Best-selling author V.E. Schwab is making the Tri-Cities the first stop in her tour for the release of her latest book, “The Fragile Threads of Power.”

She will speak and answer questions at Columbia Basin College in Pasco on Tuesday, Sept. 26, the day the book is released.

She is the featured author of the annual Mid-Columbia Reads literary festival put on by Mid-Columbia Libraries.

Free copies of her books are being given away at Mid-Columbia Libraries branches while supplies last.

In a change to the festival this year, admission is not free.

Mid-Columbia Libraries is in the midst of strategic planning and was only able to bring in a speaker this year with the help of Barnes & Noble.

Barnes & Noble is selling presigned copies of her new book, which come with a ticket for admission to hear Schwab speak, for $32.57. They can be purchased online at bit.ly/VESchwabatCBC.

The Mid-Columbia Libraries also had a limited number of books with tickets that it gave out through in-library drawings.

Her talk, with plenty of time for audience questions, will start at 6 p.m. at the CBC Gjerde Center off 20th Ave.

Pre-signed copies of all Schwab’s books, including some in Spanish, will be available for sale.

“The Fragile Threads of Power” is the latest in Schwab’s “Shades of Magic” fantasy series.

Booklist said about an earlier entry in the series — “Full of magic, intrigue, adventure, deception, a bit of piracy ... this will engage both adult and young adult fantasy readers alike.”

Victoria “V.E.” Schwab has written 20 books, which also include the “Villains” series, the “Cassidy Blake” series and the international bestseller “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.”

“First Kill,” a 2022 young adult vampire series on Netflix, is based on her short stories.

Her books have been translated into more than two dozen languages.

She lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.
