Tri-Cities father dead after crashing motorcycle on Highway 240 in Richland

A Kennewick man died after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 240 in Richland about 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Joshua J. Elliott, 30, was driving east in the area of the Steptoe Street interchange when his red BMW motorcycle left the pavement. He was thrown from the motorcycle.

He was wearing a helmet but died before he could be taken to a hospital, according to WSP.

The on-ramp from Columbia Park Trail and Steptoe Street to eastbound Highway 240 was closed until almost 6 p.m. as the WSP investigated. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to Elliott’s Facebook page, he was a service supervisor at Thunder Alley and had a daughter and a son.

His page said he lived in Kennewick, had attended Kennewick High School and was from West Richland.
