Pilots from the Tora! Tora! Tora! Commemorative Air Force look at Scott Urban’s restored 1951 U.S. Navy Jeep on Thursday on the tarmac of the Richland Airport.

The group of six WWII Japanese military vintage planes, replicas and their volunteer crew members spent the night in the Tri-Cities before refueling and taking off for their next airshow this weekend at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma.

The fleet is scheduled to perform a live reenactment of the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, complete with pyrotechnics, during JBLM’s Air Show & Warrior Expo this weekend.

From left, they are: Chris Walker, Doug Derr, Scott Urban of Richland and Dan Reedy.

The volunteer pilots and crew use their show to teach a living history lesson of how the course of U.S. history was changed on Dec. 7, 1941. The team is based in Texas.
