Longtime Kennewick firefighter Kevin Crowley has been selected as the new chief of the Pasco Fire Department, the city of Pasco announced.

He was hand selected among five national finalists by City Manager Adam Lincoln to lead the 103-employee department.

He replaces former Chief Bob Gear, who retired at the end of May and capped off a nearly 50-year career.

“Chief Crowley’s understanding of regional fire service and his exceptional performance in the interview process distinguished him from a very competitive field of candidates. We eagerly anticipate Chief Crowley joining our team,” Lincoln said in a prepared statement.

Crowley currently serves as deputy fire chief of the Kennewick Fire Department. He’s been with the department for nearly 25 years, and has held captain and battalion chief positions throughout that time.

He starts his new position July 3.

“I am honored for the opportunity to serve as the fire chief and to work with a team of dedicated professionals committed to serving the Pasco community,” Crowley said in a statement.

The Pasco Fire Department operates four stations, as well as a training center and other facilities. The department provides emergency transport services with medics assigned to emergency medical service response units, as well as firefighter-medics when needed.
