toverman@theolympian.com

Dating outside of large metropolitan areas can get repetitive really quickly. How do you come up with new date ideas, keep the romance alive and avoid spots your ex frequents?

Worry not. The Tri-City Herald has compiled three date itinerary guides for Saturday, June 3 at varying price points.

Tri-Cities date for $50

Bird Walk

Start the day as an early bird with birds of another feather. The Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society hosts a free bird walk in the Chamna Natural Preserve on the first Saturday of every month during birding season. The current season ends in June, so join experts this Saturday at 8 a.m. for the last bird walk until September.

Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes. Sun protection, bug repellent and water are recommended.

Strawberry Festival

The Middleton Farms Strawberry Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday in June. Tickets are $11.95 per person and include strawberry picking, games and activities like a ropes course and grain train.

Mushroom Fest

The second annual Mushroom Fest is coming to Adventures Underground in conjunction with the Uptown Get Down music festival. Live music is scheduled all day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Mushroom Fest features food trucks and mushroom-based cuisine at the Caterpillar Cafe, as well as various vendors and games.

Tri-Cities date for $100

Asparagus Masterclass

Enjoy an expert lecture and cooking demonstration at the Asparagus Masterclass at Wine Social from 1 to 3 p.m. Alan Schrieber, Pacific Northwest agriculture expert, will provide information and chef Derek Smith will demonstrate cooking with asparagus across multiple courses. The asparagus will be paired with wines by Wine Social owner Marc Newman.

Wine Social members, or Socialites, can get in for $30 per person. Non-member admission is $40.

Art Show

The Gallery at the Park at Howard Amon Park is hosting a free gallery opening featuring three artists from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Snacks and drinks will be available as you take in Adrian Valencia’s mixed media paintings, Bunneah Munkeah’s couture costumery and Warren Hughs’ metalwork.

The event will be DJed by Bluminati. Dress whimsically to be entered in the whimsical costume party, you could win a prize.

Dust Devils

General admission to the Dust Devils baseball game against the Spokane Indians is only $11. However, if both you and your date were non-members at Wine Social, two tickets to the game will put you just a few dollars over budget. If you can swing it, the game starts at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by a fireworks show.
