Tri-Cities pedestrian dies on I-84 in Oregon standing by a broken down car

A Kennewick man died after he was hit by a semi truck near a broken down car that was being worked on along the shoulder of Interstate 84 in Oregon.

Michael Beauford Baysinger, 69, of Kennewick, was in Sherman County, Ore., near Biggs Junction when he was hit about 1:15 p.m. Saturday, March 25.

The Oregon State Police released information on his death Thursday.

A 2010 Nissan Armada was parked on the shoulder with a 1996 Subaru Legacy that was being repaired, according to the state police.

Baysinger was standing at the partially opened driver’s door of the Nissan when a semi-truck with a double trailer passed in the right-hand lane.

The semi, driven by Robert M. Service, 29, of Gresham, Ore., struck the partially ajar door and Baysinger, according to the state police.
