With Christmas in the rear view mirror, it’s time to say “bye, bye” to that wilting tree in the corner of your living room.

There are several locations in Tri-Cities where you can dispose of or recycle that tree for little or no charge.

Local landfills and governments are reminding residents to remove all lights, ornaments and decorations before dropping them off.

Pasco, Franklin County

Pasco Recreation Services offers a recycle program at the Big Cross fenced area near the intersection of Road 36 and Argent Road.

Trees will be chipped by Franklin County road crews to be spread out along nearby trails. Remember to remove all lights and bulbs prior to dropping them off.

This location is open until Monday, Jan. 23.

Basin Disposal

Basin Disposal will collect Christmas trees cut into 4-foot segments that are placed curbside. Remove any and all ornaments and tinsel.

There is no charge for existing city limits customers.

For county customers, trees are charged 1 extra yard, regardless of size, at $16.02.

Waste Management

Waste Management customers and city residents can drop off trees free of charge at the Kennewick Transfer Station at 2627 S. Ely Street.

The facility is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

Curbside pickup is also available, but customers may be charged a one-time fee depending on your service agreement.

Trees should not exceed maximum allowable length for pickup, and customers should remember to remove any tinsels, lights and ornaments.

Trees should be left curbside the night before your scheduled pickup day and should not be buried in snow.

Richland

Richland residents can drop off their trees for free at the Horn Rapids Landfill at 3102 Twin Bridges Road.

The landfill is open 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
