Registration has been extended through Friday for a free Tri-Cities Grandparents Day event this Saturday.

The Richland Seniors Association is hosting the inaugural Tri-Cities Lupe Kuhn Memorial Grandparents Day celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Columbia Point Marina Park in Richland.

The event is free and open to families all over the Tri-Cities, but you’ll need to register in advance.

They have room for up to 300 grandparents and grandkids to take part in the activities.

The event celebrates and honors the memory of Lupe Kuhn, who the Richland Seniors Association describes as an amazingly wonderful and giving woman, who served as a director of the association.

She died in January 2021. Her love of and concern for the well-being children inspired the event, said the group.

The event includes goodie bags for children, activities and contests for grandparents and children to do together, face painting and Big Top the Clown.

In addition to games, some of the activities include “candy through the decades” and a display of antiques titled “what the heck was that thing used for?” as well as a firetruck tour by the Richland Fire Department.

Registration is available through eventbrite, at bit.ly/TriCitiesGrandparentDay2022 or by calling the Richland Seniors Association Information Line at 800-595-4070.

You’ll want to leave your name, phone number, email address, and the number of people attending in your group, and the association will complete the Eventbrite registration for you.
