The Federal Building in Richland, Wash., was evacuated at about 1:40 p.m. Monday after a suspicious package was found.

At 1:55 p.m. everyone had reportedly left the building and the package was being inspected. Richland police, including bomb techs, were at the building.

Hanford employees were told at 2:41 p.m. that an “all clear” had been issued and they could return to the building.

Richland police reported that the suspicious package, a bag, turned out to be empty.

The Federal Building at 825 Jadwin Ave. includes offices for contractor employees for the Hanford nuclear reservation site and a federal courthouse.

Other space also is used for a Veterans Affairs clinic and by the Internal Revenue Service and some federal law enforcement and other federal agencies.
