A woman died early Tuesday after the motorcycle she was a passenger on crashed into a pickup truck and a trailer in Finley.

Monique Garcia, 41, of Pasco, died five hours after being rushed to Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick, the Washington State Patrol said in a traffic memo.

Garcia was on the bike with Samuel R. Ramos, 44, of Richland, headed south on Highway 397.

The motorcycle was approaching Bowles Road when Ramos tried to pass a pickup pulling a horse trailer by moving into the oncoming lane.

But the truck then made a left turn into a parking lot in front of Ramos and the bike hit the truck and trailer. Both Garcia and Ramos were trapped underneath the trailer and needed to be freed.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 1:20 a.m., according to the state patrol.

Ramos’ condition was not immediately available Tuesday.

Both Ramos and Garcia were wearing helmets at the time, and drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash, said investigators.

The pickup truck’s driver, Kala Null, 27, of Kennewick, was not hurt in the crash.
