56-year-old Tri-Cities pickup truck driver dies in I-182 crash in Pasco

A 56-year-old Kennewick man died in an early Friday morning crash after his truck hit a guardrail on Interstate 182.

Jorge Ramirez was heading east on the divided highway in the Pasco city limits when he lost control of the GMC Sierra pickup near the Fourth Avenue exit, the Washington State Patrol said in a release. It happened about 2 a.m.

Ramirez, who was not wearing his seat belt, died at the scene.

It’s not clear why Ramirez lost control of the pickup, the state patrol said.

The crash shut down eastbound lanes near the exit for about 4 1/2 hours while officers investiged, according to Pasco police and WSP Trooper Chris Thorson.

Morning traffic was detoured through Pasco, causing delays for some drivers during the morning commute, Thorson said.
