Update: Police responding to assault call found man dead in front of Kennewick home

Police are searching for a suspect after a man was killed in Kennewick on Friday afternoon.

Benton County Sheriff Tom Croskrey told the Herald that police responded to a call about an assault in the 1100 block of Gum Street just after 5 p.m. When police arrived they found an elderly man dead in front of the home.

Croskrey said there was a report of a person running away from the scene, but they do not have a suspect in custody.

Police are investigating the crime as a homicide and questioning people who were at the home at the time of the killing. They have not yet said how the man died.
