Connell man killed when car flips north of Pasco on Highway 395. Tri-City passenger hurt

A rollover crash on Highway 395 north of Pasco early Sunday morning killed the driver and hurt his Tri-Cities passenger.

Steven A. Houston, 33, of Connell, was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he died, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Houston was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser north on Highway 395 when he lost control about 11 miles north of Pasco and near Eltopia just before 2:30 a.m.

His car left the highway, rolled and he was thrown out, said the WSP. He was not wearing a seat belt.

His passenger, Grey Ertl, 24, of West Richland, was taken to Trios Health in Kennewick. He was wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reported that the roadway was slick when they responded to assist troopers at the crash.
