New Tri-Cities bike shop, Dollar General and Ulta Beauty. What’s opening and closing

Here are the latest business openings and closings in the Tri-Cities.

Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty is celebrating its upcoming move across the street from Columbia Center mall with a sale.

The beauty supply retailer is moving from its Kennewick location south of the mall to the old Pier One store site at 1232 Columbia Center Blvd, in front of the retail strip with T.J. Maxx and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Shoppers can sign up online for coupons good through Feb. 6 when the old store closes. They plan on a soft opening the following week, with an official grand opening set for mid-February.

Pedego bikes

An electric bike shop has opened in Richland.

At Pedego Tri-Cities, customers can buy or rent electric bicycles. The shop is at 1084 George Washington Way.

It’s conveniently located near the Columbia River so customers looking for an new outdoor activity can head over to the Richland Riverfront Trail portion of the Sacajawea Heritage Trail.

Rentals are available for 1 hour, 3 hours or 6 hours, starting at $25.

The bikes have an estimated range of about 40 to 75 miles, and come with safety features such as an LED brake light.

And they’re designed to allow users to pedal when they want to and use electric power when they don’t.

Pedego’s website says they are great options for seniors and people with a disability that might otherwise prevent them from enjoying an extended bicycle trip.

In addition to the rentals, Pedego sells a variety of electric bicycles. Styles range from cruisers to mountain bikes to low step bikes, tandem style and even trikes.

Peacock Coffee

Fans of Peacock Coffee Roasting Co. may have to wait a bit longer to get a sip of their favorite brews.

The coffee house hoped to open this week, but renovation snags caused a setback. They’re now aiming for an opening near the end of February.

The coffee shop will offer customers the opportunity to roast their own single origin beans in a state-of-the-art, zero emissions roaster.

They also plan to focus on teaching customers how to brew the perfect cup of coffee at home. In addition to coffee, they also will have small bites such as rum truffles and pastries.

Peacock Coffee Roasting Co. will be at 707 The Parkway in Richland.

Tasting room closes

Cave B Estate Winery is pulling out of the Columbia Gardens Wine and Artisan Village.

The Port of Kennewick announced during its Jan. 25 meeting that Cave B had tried to stick it out, with its tasting room, but having opened their doors just four days before pandemic, the lockdown restrictions made the location untenable.

The Quincy, Wash., based winery itself is still in business, just the Kennewick tasting room at 421 E. Columbia Dr. has closed.

No word on who will replace them in the port’s wine village.
