Gesa matching $10,000 in donations to Washington wildfire victims

A local credit union is working to help donations to wildfire relief in the region go a little further.

Gesa Credit Union is accepting donations for the American Red Cross’ Washington Wildfire fund through the end of October at all of its branches. The credit union is matching the first $10,000 in donations.

Washington has been struck with a series of large wildfires in within the last month starting with the Evans Canyon fire outside of Naches, which destroyed six homes and scorched more than 75,000 acres. The American Red Cross has volunteers providing help with shelters, food, replacing medical items and mental health support.

“Our thoughts are with those impacted by and helping to fight these devastating wildfires,” said Don Miller, Gesa’s president and CEO. “Gesa will continue to support the American Red Cross in their efforts to aid our communities during this time.”

Gesa members who have been impacted by the wildfires can contact their local branch or call 888-946-4372 to learn about programs designed to help.
