Legends Casino and Hotel in Toppenish is reopening to the public Aug. 13 after being closed since April because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“While we support the measures and procedures Gov. Inslee and our county teams implement to lessen the spread of COVID-19, the Yakama Nation maintains sovereign decision-making on tribal lands including the decision to reopen Legends Casino,” a news release said.

The release said that 800 team members were put on standby during the pandemic to allow them to collect unemployment but also so the business could still provide workers with health care benefits.

Employees returned this week to be retrained in new safety procedures, including:

  • Guests must submit to a temperature screening.
  • Everyone is required to wear a mask and keep a 6-foot distance from others.
  • Guest capacity is limited to 50 percent.
  • Plexiglass protectors have been installed throughout the facilities including at game tables.
  • The facility is now smoke-free.
  • Valet and parking lot shuttles are temporarily suspended.
  • No buffet is offered, but food court seating is available.
  • The poker room will be closed, but table games and Keno will be open.

The casino at 580 Fort Road in Toppenish will be open 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Hotel guests can access the casino floor at 9 a.m. For more information, call 509-865-8800 or go to legendscasino.com.
