More CARES grants available for struggling Tri-Cities businesses and nonprofits
Tri-Cities businesses and nonprofits can now apply for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act grants through local governments.
▪ Benton County commissioners have designated $3.5 million for the program to help local businesses with no repayment requirements.
The grants will be administered by the Tri-City Development Council (TRIDEC), and applications for grant funding opened July 16. Applications can be found online at www.tridec.org/bccares.
Benton County businesses and nonprofits of all sizes are eligible to apply to cover expenses incurred on or after March 27.
Deadline to apply is Sept. 25.

▪ COVID-19 relief grants up to $30,000 each, are available to eligible small businesses operating in the city of Pasco.
The money is from the CARES Act, through the Washington State Department of Commerce.
Businesses meeting the criteria and located in the Pasco city limits are eligible to apply.
The city council authorized adding $1 million to the nearly $350,000 in grants to businesses previously announced. Businesses that already applied will be considered for this supplementary grant funding.
