Gusting winds blow motorcyclist off I-82 in Kennewick

A Benton City motorcyclist was hurt when high winds blew his cycle off Interstate 82 in Kennewick.

Ronald W. Almberg, 59, was heading east near Leslie Road just after 2 p.m. on Monday when he lost control of his Kawasaki, the Washington State Patrol said. The bike went into the median.

Almberg was taken to Trios Southridge Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

WSP said the high winds in south Kennewick were to blame for the crash.

The winds picked up late in the morning reaching 28 mph, with gusts of 35 mph reported at the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco.
