700 food boxes to be given away June 3 in Kennewick

Second Harvest of Tri-Cities plans another free food distribution event Wednesday at Toyota Center in Kennewick.

The nonprofit will be handing out 700 boxes starting at 11 a.m. June 3 as part of the Second Harvest Tri-Cities Mobile Market.

No appointment is needed, but the events last only until the boxes are gone.

People are asked to stay in their cars and drive up to have a food box loaded into their trunk.

Food drive for kids

Second Harvest also has joined efforts with Yoke’s Fresh Market stores in Tri-Cities and Spokane and KEPR TV in a food drive for a summer meal program.

The effort is seeking donations through What’s for Lunch Food Drive to help supply food to children during the summer. The fundraiser will run through June 21. Every dollar donated will provide five meals.

To donate, visit a Yoke’s store or go to https://bit.ly/2ndHarvestSummer.
