Memorial Day sunrise in Richland

Volunteers arrived as early as 5 a.m. Memorial Day to place flags along the Avenue of Flags to honor soldiers and veterans at Sunset Gardens in Richland.

Celebrations looked a little different this year because of the new coronavirus.

A drive-through cemetery memorial was held with a radio broadcast by former Marine Corps general and Secretary of Defense James Mattis, a Richland native.
