Tri-Cities protest rally planned Sunday against coronavirus stay-home restrictions

Protests against restrictions placed because of the coronavirus pandemic are gaining momentum in the Northwest and the nation.

A rally at John Dam Plaza in Richland on Sunday, April 19, had gained the interest of about 200 as of Saturday, with about 70 saying they would attend on the Facebook event page Hazardous Liberty.

The 1 p.m. protest was being organized by Richland resident Christopher Michaud against Gov. Jay Inslee’s restrictions.

Similar efforts were being made by others throughout the Northwest with a rally planned Sunday in Olympia.

Several hundred protesters showed up at the Idaho Capitol in Boise on Friday waving flags and signs while protesting — and proudly violating — Gov. Brad Little’s stay-home.

Similar protests were planned in Oregon’s capital in coming weeks.
