Hear the story of a maverick scientist who was right about Eastern Washington geology
The story of a maverick scientists who turned out to be right about geography of Eastern Washington will be shared in Kennewick March 10.
Naturalist, writer and photographer Eric Lindstrom is writing a book about geologist J Harlen Bretz and will give a guest lecture to the Lake Lewis Chapter of the Ice Age Flood Institute.
Bretz first theorized nearly a century ago that an ice age flood of near biblical proportions created the channeled scablands of the Columbia Plateau.
His explanation of catastrophic flooding did not not conform to the geological dogma of his day and a bitter scientific battle ensued that lasted nearly 50 years.
Lindstrom will talk at 7 p.m. after a brief chapter meeting at the Benton PUD Auditorium, 2721 W. 10th Ave., Kennewick. The public is invited.
