2nd Amendment gun rights rally planned in Richland Saturday

A group of gun rights supporters are gathering Saturday at John Dam Plaza in Richland in support of Friday’s rally in Olympia.

The effort is being led by Mike Wingfield, who wanted to organize an event for the people who weren’t able to make it to the Gun Rights Coalition Lobby Day across the state.

Advocates traveled to the state capitol Friday to lobby for protecting Second Amendment rights.

The protesters are concerned about several proposed laws before the Legislature, including bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

“This is not about Republican vs. Democrat,” organizers said. “It’s about both sides coming together to protect and defend the constitutions of Washington state and the United States.”

The Richland event is 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at 815 George Washington Way.
